LALAL.AI vs Moises: AI stem separation compared
Two popular tools for splitting songs into vocals and instruments compared on features, collaboration, apps and pricing.
Separating a song into vocals, drums, bass and other instruments used to require studio multitracks. LALAL.AI and Moises both do it with AI. LALAL.AI grew from a vocal remover into a suite of audio processing tools, while Moises is a toolkit for musicians that adds practice, recording and real-time collaboration.
The short answer
- Choose LALAL.AI if you mainly need clean stem separation and voice cleanup, with a VST plugin for your audio software.
- Choose Moises if you are a musician who wants to practise with isolated parts, record performances and collaborate in sessions.

Separation and cleanup
Both split songs into vocals, drums, bass, guitar, keys and more. LALAL.AI adds tools aimed at audio cleanup, such as reducing noise, echo and reverb in recordings and separating lead from backing vocals. Its minutes are deducted per file length multiplied by the number of stems selected, processed in a fast queue with monthly limits and a slower queue.
For practising and making music together
Moises is designed around musicians’ routines: isolate a part to play along, film a performance with good audio, and, with Moises Studio, arrange and record a shared session with bandmates in the browser without passing files around.
Rights reminder
Separating stems does not grant rights to the original recording. Use separated parts for personal practice, or only where you have permission to remix, publish or perform.
How to decide
- Test the same difficult track, with dense mixing, in both free options.
- Listen for artefacts in the vocal and drum stems.
- Decide whether you need cleanup tools or collaboration features.
- Estimate monthly minutes, remembering that multiple stems multiply usage on LALAL.AI.
- Check platform support for the devices you use daily.
