Brave Leo
Brave Leo is the AI assistant built into the Brave browser, summarising pages and documents, answering questions and supporting your own local or remote models.
About this tool
Leo is the AI assistant integrated into the Brave browser on desktop and mobile. You can open it from the address bar or toolbar and ask it to summarise the current page, a PDF or a Google Doc or Sheet, translate text, draft content, explain concepts or help with code, without leaving the tab. Answers can be enriched with Brave Search results for more up-to-date information.
Brave emphasises privacy: Leo does not require an account, and Brave says conversations are neither kept nor shared, and are not used to train models. Chat history can be saved locally on the device, temporary chats are not logged, and users can set preferences Leo remembers. A Bring Your Own Model feature connects Leo to local models or third-party APIs, and Leo Premium offers more models with faster responses.

- A developer runs a local model through Leo to keep queries off the cloud.
- A busy reader organises dozens of open tabs by topic.
Before you choose
